Carrie-Anne Moss has boarded the British co-production with Channel 4, which has started production on season two

The second season of AMC's sci-fi series Humans is shaping up. The network's first British co-production, with U.K. broadcaster Channel 4, has now secured the services of Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), finding time around her Jessica Jones role for Marvel and Netflix, and Nashville's Sam Palladio, with production having kicked off in the U.K. Other new additions announced Thursday include Marshall Allman (True Blood), Sonya Cassidy (The Paradise) and Letitia Wright (Cucumber/Banana), alongside the returning names of Gemma Chan, Katherine Parkinson, Tom Goodman-Hill, Emily Berrington, Will Tudor, Colin Morgan, Ivanno Jeremiah, Neil Maskell and Ruth Bradley. Set several months on from the events of season one, the eight-part second outing sees the rogue synth Niska still at large as her android family attempt to find their places in the world. Newcomer Allman is set to play a Silicon Valley billionaire who recruits Moss' Artificial Intelligence expert, herself attempting to create another kind of machine consciousness. The first season of Humans enjoyed excellent ratings on both sides of the Atlantic, earning AMC an average of 2.1 million viewers per episode. The second season is slated to premiere in late 2016 in the U.K. and 2017 in the U.S. Written by Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (Spooks: The Greater Good), Humans is produced by increasingly prolific U.K. TV banner Kudos (Broadchurch, The Tunnel, Vicious) in association with Matador Films. Executive producers are Derek Wax (The Hour, Capital) and Chris Fry (The Smoke, Spooks) for Kudos, and Sam Vincent, Jonathan Brackley, Henrik Widman and Lars Lundstrom for Matador Films. The series is produced by Paul Gilbert and directed by Lewis Arnold (Humans, Banana). Humans was commissioned for Channel 4 by Beth Willis and Simon Maxwell and for AMC by Joel Stillerman and Kristin Jones.
